Medical practitioners: Learn while relaxing and recharging in paradise! Earn CPD hours (ANZ) or category 1 CME credits (US).

This unique learning activity blends flexible, self-paced learning with hour-long, in-person discussion groups, making it easy to fit professional growth into your getaway. Your in-person attendance may allow you to use CPD/CME funds from your employer or qualify your trip for tax write-offs. Click here for other compelling reasons why you should attend!

Who Should Attend: Medical practitioners who prefer laid-back, interactive learning in a destination location. If you enjoy connecting with colleagues from around the world and exploring engaging topics in a casual atmosphere, this event is for you.

How It Works:

  • Self-paced learning: You’ll receive curated articles to read at your own pace (earn CPD/CME while lounging in a hammock).

  • In-person discussion groups: Join us in Vava'u, Tonga, for relaxed, one-hour facilitated discussion groups to connect with peers and dive deeper into the material.

Why You’ll Love This Format:

  • Recharge and reduce burnout in a stunning destination.

  • In-person participation necessitates travel, so your trip may qualify for either CPD/CME fund reimbursement or a potential tax write-off.

  • Access a wide range of articles, allowing you to earn anywhere from four to eight CPD hours (or category 1 CME credits) per day (gratifying both your mind and your employer/accountant).

Flexible Options:

  • Join for one day or multiple days, depending on your CPD/CME needs or travel plans.

  • On days you attend an in-person discussion, you can earn CPD/CME for your participation.

  • Earn an additional four (and up to eight) CPD hours or CME credits per day from self-paced learning.

  • Enjoy the freedom to book your own travel dates and airfare

  • Pick any accommodations you like, whether it’s a luxury hotel or a hut on the beach--the choice is yours

CPD/CME Information:

  • Self-paced reading (CPD): Earn CPD by reading each article and documenting it in your CPD logbook*.

  • Self-paced reading (CME): Earn category 1 CME by reading each article and completing an evaluation on the Open Evidence platform.

  • In-person discussion group (CPD): Earn CPD by documenting your participation and learning in your CPD logbook*. Since your in-person participation necessitates travel, your trip may qualify for either CPD fund reimbursement or a tax write-off.

  • In-person discussion group (CME): Earn category 1 CME by documenting your learning and how it applies to your practice on Learner+. (The Learner+ platform charges an annual fee for this service.) Prefer to keep things simple? Easy: just log your participation in the discussion as category 2 CME, which is self-documented and self-reported. Either way, since your in-person participation necessitates travel, your trip may qualify for CME fund reimbursement or a tax write-off.

*AUS and NZ medical practitioners: To document your CPD for recertification, keep a record of each peer discussion group you attend and each article you read, including the date and hours spent on each activity.

Have questions? We’ve got answers.

Q: Who is this CPD/CME event for?
A: This event is perfect for medical practitioners who enjoy laid-back, interactive learning in a destination location. If you like connecting with colleagues from around the globe and exploring engaging topics in a casual atmosphere, you’ll fit right in.

Q: Who is this CPD/CME event not for?
A: If your happy place is a hotel ballroom with stiff chairs, fluorescent lighting, and enough PowerPoint slides to wallpaper your house, you might want to sit this one out. We prefer learning that feels more like a lively chat than a snooze-fest in a necktie.

Q: What’s the setting for the in-person discussion?
A: Forget the soul-sucking hotel conference room (we just can’t with the fake chandeliers). Instead, we will meet in a casual, informal setting (if you want to meet on the beach, we’re all in!)

Q: So I don’t have to spend four hours participating in-person in order to earn four CPD hours/CME credits?
A: That’s right! We know time in a beautiful location is the best antidote to provider burnout, so we keep the in-person portion short. You can earn the rest of your CPD/CME on your own schedule, leaving you plenty of time to frolic, nap, scuba dive, or do whatever restores your soul.

Q: What if my accountant (or employer) is super uptight and wants me to earn more than four CPD hours/CME credits per day?
A: No problem! Our self-paced learning materials let you earn as many credits as your schedule—and brain—will allow. You’ll be swimming in CPD or CME, and your accountant (or employer) can stop clutching their spreadsheets.

Q: My accountant/employer wants to know if I can just Zoom in to the meeting instead of traveling to what he calls “vacation paradise.”
A: Sorry, no virtual option; you’ll have to relax in person in a gorgeous setting (and maybe even spend some time outdoors by the ocean, too). Bonus: science says that’s good for you, and you will be putting your learning from this activity directly into practice.

Q: Can my family or friends join me for the trip?
A: Absolutely! While the actual event is strictly for medical practitioners, there’s plenty nearby to keep your family and friends entertained while you’re living your best educational life.

Q: Do I have to stay at a certain hotel?
A: Nope! Stay wherever you like: budget motel, boutique inn, or full-on luxury. The choice is yours.

Q: So the price is the same no matter how many days I join you for?

A: Yep! One price, zero math. Whether you’re popping in for a day or hanging out all week, it’s the same deal. Plane delayed? No sweat. Decided you love us and want to stay longer? We’re flattered—and you’re still covered! We ditched complicated pricing so you can spend less time calculating and more time having fun.

Q: How do I join the fun?

A: Glad you asked! You can RSVP to clarytepperphd@yahoo.com (we can send you a link to pay).

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

We know life happens, whether it’s a sudden emergency or an unexpected Nobel Prize nomination that requires you to change your travel plans. If you cancel at least six weeks before the event, we’ll refund 75% of the price you paid. If you cancel at least four weeks before the event, we’ll refund 50%. After that, refunds are a no-go (planning events in another country is both complicated and time consuming!).
