Therapy with Clary Tepper, Ph.D.

I’m Dr. Clary Tepper, a licensed psychologist with over 25 years of clinical experience. I work from a client-centered, relational, and psychodynamically-informed perspective. I work with both individuals and couples.

My credentials include a Ph.D. in Clinical Developmental and School Psychology from Bryn Mawr College, one of the country’s top-ranked clinical training programs. Since becoming a licensed therapist in 1996, I’ve worked across a wide range of clinical, academic, and leadership settings, always bringing depth, empathy, and thoughtful strategy to my work.

Therapy for Physicians and Healthcare Professionals

Physicians face unique mental health challenges: burnout, chronic stress, imposter syndrome, and emotional fatigue are common, but often hidden. I specialize in working with doctors and healthcare workers, providing therapy tailored to the pressures of medical life.

Whether you're navigating the emotional toll of patient care, struggling with perfectionism, or seeking work-life balance, I offer therapy that understands the realities of practicing medicine. Sessions are available in-person in Sacramento or online across California and Connecticut.

Trauma-Informed Therapy and EMDR Treatment

Standard talk therapy isn’t always effective for trauma—and in some cases, it can unintentionally do harm. That’s why I’ve pursued advanced training in trauma treatment and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional through the International Association of Trauma Professionals. I also offer EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), one of the most research-supported treatments available for trauma, anxiety, and performance-related blocks.

Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples

Struggling with disconnection, conflict, or feeling unheard? Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is a deeply effective, research-based approach that helps couples move beyond surface-level communication tools and repair the emotional bond at the heart of their relationship. EFT helps you recognize and change negative cycles, express deeper needs, and rebuild trust and closeness.

Unique Specialty: Scuba Diving-Related Anxiety and Trauma

As a certified master scuba diver, I offer a unique specialty for divers who are experiencing anxiety, panic, trauma, or performance issues related to scuba diving. Whether it’s a past dive incident, fear that’s preventing you from progressing, or psychological blocks underwater, I offer EMDR and trauma-informed therapy specifically tailored to divers. This is a highly specialized area, and I bring both clinical expertise and lived dive experience to this work. Sessions are available online across California and Connecticut or in-person in Sacramento, CA.

Educator, Mentor, and Supervisor

In addition to my clinical work, I serve as the director of clinical training for the APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical psychology at California Northstate University. I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of psychologists, and many early-career therapists seek me out for a unique blend of consultation and personal therapy as they grow in their careers.

Committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Since co-founding my college’s Coalition to End Homophobia and co-founding the Multicultural Awareness Committee at my first professional job, I’ve been committed to advocacy and inclusive care for people from marginalized communities.

Ready to Work Together?

I see clients in-person in Sacramento, CA and virtually across California and Connecticut. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, trauma, depression, or you are simply trying to understand why life feels harder than it should, we’ll work together to build insight and help you make the changes you desire.

Therapy with Robert Mitscha, M.A.

Hi, I’m Robert Mitscha. I believe life is an adventure—a journey filled with twists, turns, and moments of growth. I provide individual therapy, working with adults seeking clarity, authenticity, and a renewed sense of purpose. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or questioning what’s next, I’m here to support you in finding your way.

My background in philosophy, combined with my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from California Northstate University, offers a unique perspective. I blend philosophical insights with evidence-based approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Recognizing that every individual is different, I tailor my approach to what’s most effective for you—therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. I see my role as a guide, helping you take meaningful steps along your ongoing journey toward growth and self-discovery.

Men's Issues

I have a particular focus on issues that many men encounter, such as exploring masculinity, emotional connection, purpose, and navigating societal expectations that can feel confusing or burdensome. I understand the pressures men face: balancing strength with vulnerability, showing up authentically in relationships, and finding meaning in a constantly shifting world. My goal is to help men connect with their true selves, build confidence, and discover deeper fulfillment, all while fostering genuine relationships with the people who matter most.

Depression and Anxiety

If you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck in cycles of depression and anxiety, know that you’re not alone. I work with clients to uncover what truly matters in their lives, helping them find purpose and meaning. Through practical, compassionate guidance, we will work to reduce symptoms, build resilience, and deepen your connection with yourself. My aim is to help you feel more engaged, confident, and hopeful as you navigate challenges and create a meaningful, fulfilling life.

Video Game, Sex, and Pornography Addiction

I also support clients struggling with video game addiction, sex addiction, and pornography addiction. These patterns can be overwhelming and isolating, but with understanding and compassionate support, you can regain control and develop healthier habits. I approach these issues honestly and without judgment, working with you to identify underlying triggers, build sustainable coping skills, and restore balance—empowering you to move forward with clarity and confidence.

ADHD-Specific Therapy

For those with ADHD, I offer tailored strategies to improve executive functioning, focus, organization, and time management. Together, we will develop practical routines and tools designed to help you manage symptoms effectively so you can feel more in control and make steady progress toward your goals.

CBT-I for Insomnia

I also specialize in treating insomnia through cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). We’ll identify and change the thoughts and behaviors that interfere with restful sleep, customizing strategies to improve your sleep patterns and help you wake up feeling more refreshed and energized.

Let's Get Started

Clients often tell me they find me easy to talk to. I believe in showing up as my authentic self, bringing a grounded presence and genuine energy to each session. I will create a place for you to openly discuss what’s really on your mind, whether it’s questions or concerns about sex, intimacy, polyamory, or worries about addiction. I’m comfortable exploring these topics honestly and without judgment, helping you better understand yourself and your relationships. Whether you’re seeking purpose, working through challenges, or simply gaining clarity, I am here to help you feel more confident, authentic, and empowered. If you’re ready to begin your own adventure, I’d be honored to walk with you every step of the way.
